Borrow these tools to engage your kids in learning about the energy used in your home:

Digital indoor/outdoor thermometers help gauge how efficiently your water heater, refrigerator and freezer are working and can help guide your temperature readjustments. Comes with an instruction handout.

Kill-A-Watt meters provide you with immediate feedback about how much electricity, in watts, your various appliances use, even when they’re "off!" This is a great way to show the difference between CFLs and incandescent light bulbs or to see how much electricity a "sleeping" computer really uses. We provide a worksheet to record your findings and help you identify where the energy hogs are in your house.
